With 50 beers and ciders to choose from, it’s time to Choose Your Own Adventure at Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest! We’ve recruited the help of Kyle Takacs, award-winning bartender from Fremont’s newest bar The Helm to give us his recommended, can’t miss tastes in the Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest lineup.

Kyle’s Can’t Miss Tastes at Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest:

Ballast Point Grafruit Sculpin IPA
Hopping an ale at five separate stages produced something special with this beer. The result ended up being this gold-medal winning IPA, whose inspired use of hops creates hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting.

Bellevue Brewing Scotch Ale
Rich, full-bodied caramel goodness with hints of cashew, hazelnut, and toffee make this a beer often in The Helm’s tap rotation.

Deschutes Pacific Wonderland
The newest beer offering from one of the country’s largest craft brewers, Pacific Wonderland is a dry-hopped lager with a citrusy twist from its Tettnang Mandarina hops.

Atlas Apricot Cider
Pressed golden orange apricots dominate this uniquely tart cider. The Apricots add a subtle flavor that is like combining a peach and a plum but not quite as sweet. The Romans and Greeks had it right when they used apricots as a main ingredient of their drink known as the “Nectar of the Gods”.  May the Gods be appeased.

Firestone Walker Lunponic Distortion
This delicious beer changes with nearly each brewing, mixing experimental hops that deliver mind-blowing flavors. Grab a sample and enjoy the show.

Sierra Nevada Sidecar Orange Pale Ale
This hop-forward ale mixes the crisp and tangy citrus flavors with the classic Pale style, making this an instant beer classic perfect for sipping in the spring or summer season.

Snoqualmie Brewing Bunghole Double
This Double Brown Ale is hugely malty, deep and luxurious. The total absence of aromatic hops gives a slight hop bitterness at first sip, that quickly gives way to silky chocolate, molasses and brown bread flavors.

Lagunitas Brown Shugga Ale
Like most Lagunitas beers, you can really taste the hops in this Limited Release strong ale. With 9.8% ABV and hints of brown sugar and other holiday spices blended with a rich, malty feel, this beer is indeed, “Dangerously Slammable” as the Lagunitas website suggests.

Two Beers Wonderland Trail IPA
A quintessential northwest IPA, featuring a seamless blend of Washington-grown Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic and Cascade hops, with a slightly sweet aroma of tangerine followed by a wave of citrus and passion fruit.

Worthy Brewing Lights Out Stout
Brewed with whole Madagascar Vanilla Beans, this Stout lends a smooth, soft body with some residual sweetness that will satisfy your chocolate and coffee craving.
